Gurley Lake Ranch is a landmark high-mesa rural cluster subdivision consisting of 42 carefully planned home sites from 5 to 35 acres in size located on 500 acres of gently rolling pine, aspen and oak covered hillsides offering grand, panoramic views of the surrounding San Juan Mountains. Most notable is the solitary and perfectly symmetrical Lone Cone Mountain, which is the western-most of the major peaks in the San Juan range. Some home sites are nestled in groves of aspen or towering ponderosa pine adjacent to the Gurley Elk Reserve, with others being located along the shore of the Gurley Reservoir.
The Gurley Elk Reserve is a private 800-acre wildlife refuge open exclusively to Gurley Lake Ranch lot owners and their accompanied guests for horseback riding, hiking, fishing, camping, biking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and wildlife viewing. The Gurley Elk Reserve adjoins miles of public lands in wild and scenic Beaver Canyon, permanently protecting the spectacular views from our ranch sites, as well as providing critical habitat for elk, mule deer, bear and other wildlife.
The Gurley Reservoir is a historic (circa 1889) 300-acre lake offering boating and excellent trout fishing. Gurley Reservoir is owned and operated by the Farmers Water Development Company.
Gurley Lake Ranch offers a unique, affordable and relaxing alternative to the busy, high-priced resort atmosphere of Telluride. We embrace a mountain ranch lifestyle that is comfortable and in tune with nature's clock, where your neighbors are working farmers and ranchers and the deer, elk, bear and eagles call your backyard home.
Gurley Lake Ranch is located 15 minutes south of Norwood, Colorado and only 45 minutes from the resort community of Telluride, both of which are accessible by good, year-round paved and maintained county roads. Norwood is a small farming/ranching community and popular equestrian center, offering good restaurants and shopping for essentials. It is the home of the San Miguel County Fairgrounds, and the annual San Miguel Basin Fair, Rodeo & Carnival. Nearby Telluride is a classic Colorado resort community offering an endless array of summer and winter outdoor adventures, cultural activities and festivals as well as world-class downhill and cross country skiing.
